The miniature end mill is an end mill manufactured by reducing the geometric parameters of the ordinary end mill according to the principle of proportional scaling, and it cannot guarantee the reliability of the production process. Often micro end mills only "cut" but not "cut", and not many chips are produced. The reason for this has to do with a misunderstanding of the relationship between the length of a micro end mill and the depth of engagement. It is precisely this misunderstanding that causes the micro end mill to break during machining.
Under this circumstance, a new type of miniature end mill with lower cost has been developed. The feature of this design is that the transition of the miniature end mill from the cone to the cutting point is an arc. On the one hand, the hyperbolic transition tool shank avoids the contact between the tool and the workpiece during the cutting process, thereby reducing the frictional load. On the other hand, the circular cross section of the shank also has good elastic deformation properties, preventing stress cracks in the shank of the micro end mill. In this way, each cutting edge involved in cutting is subjected to the same cutting force. Sudden changes in cutting conditions can be compensated and balanced by the micro end mill's slender elastic shank. Depending on the material to be cut, the cutting part can have the best axial penetration depth, which is convenient for removing all machining allowances at one time.
